The history of many society, state, national or an empire is indisputably a reflection of the leadership of its ruler. This reflection is mirror through which you can see image of the society, its achievements and greatness in every field of human endeavor. The modern history of Zazzau in the last quarter of this century, and in fact at the dawn of this millennium is virtually the history of His Highness Alhaji Dr. Shehu Idris, the 18th Fulani Emir of Zazzau. Shehu is the pillar, the ruler, the shinning and the most brilliant star of the recorded rulers who dwelled, ruled or administered a land called “Kasar Zazzau” (Zazzau Emirate).
To write the history of Zazzau and Kaduna State in this famous century is indeed to write the biography of Alhaji Shehu Idris who is at the Zenith, the apex and the highest echelon in “Kasar Zazzau” (Zazzau Emirate). To have a clear and transcendent of Zazzau in the annals of history, is indeed to have a true reflection of Alhaji Shehu idris who achieved greatness in the historical achievements of Zazzau during the Fourty (40) years of his able leadership. The emir is a positive minded leader who tremendously contributed to the development of Zazzau and its people. He has done this directly through plea’s and contact with government at all levels, and indirectly through personal and moral support.
