Dokajen Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Garba was born on the 20th June 1953. He attended Giwa L.E.A Primary School from 1963 to 1970, Zaria Local Authority Community Secondary School, Makarfi from 1970 to1973 and then in 1975 he graduated from Alhudahuda Secondary School, Zaria where he obtained his WAEC certificate.
In the year 1975, he attended the Stenographers’ Course at Staff Training Centre, Kakuri Kaduna.
And in 1978 he obtained a certificate on Assistant Executive Officers’ Course (AEO) at Staff Training Centre Kakuri Kaduna and later he went to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and obtained Certificates in Administrative Management Training Course (AMTC) and Advanced Diploma in Public Administration (ADPA) within the years of 1984 to 1988.
Alhaji Shehu has also participated in various courses and workshops both internationally and domestically which include;
- Orientation Workshop for Emirate Traditional Councils at ABU Zaria, Kaduna State, 1991
- Certificate of Participation in International Visitor Programme of the United States Information Agency titled “Grassroots Democracy in the US Federal System”, 1997
- California State Assembly Certificate of Recognition by 58th Assembly District, California State Legislature, 1997
- Certificate of Merit in Appreciation for Humanitarian Development and Services by the Zaria Youth Development Association, 2000
Alhaji Shehu began his carrier as a classroom teacher at Unguwan Kahu L.E.A Primary School, Zaria city in July 1975. By 1976 he was transferred to the Zazzau Emirate Council Administrative block as Clerk/typist. He was made Assistant Executive Officer in 1978, and Executive Officer in the year 1981, then to Higher Executive Officer 1981, Senior Executive Officer in 1985. And by 1989 he became the Acting Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council, in 1991. He became Assistant Chief Executive Officer (Principal Private Secretary to the present Emir Alhaji Dr Shehu Idris (CFR).
Alhaji Shehu Garba do Serve as representation of the Emirate Council and liaison between different enterprises and the Emirate. Alhaji Shehu Garba was then turbaned with the title as Wakilin Raya Kasar Zazzau by His Highness Alhaji Dr Shehu Idris CFR in 1995 to 2001. Then latter promoted to Dokajen Zazzau for his dedication and forthrightness while discharging his duties to the Emirate on 2001 to Date.
